Care Instructions
  • Warm machine wash at 40 degrees Celsius
  • Do not bleach
  • Line dry in the shade
  • Do not tumble dry
  • Warm iron as desired
  • Do not dry clean
Our Recommendations

Wash light and dark colours separately using a mild, bleach free liquid detergent. Finish with a cold-water rinse. Do not overfill the washing machine; this will cause the fabric fibres to break due to added agitation and abrasion.

  • Please note that the local water is desalinated and classed as hard water so some adjustments may be needed.
  • Although the care instructions say 'do not dry clean', Domani linens are robust enough to stand this chemical process, however we do not recommend this method of laundering.
  • Store in a cool dry well aerated place if storing for long periods of time. Do not store in plastic bags or wooden chests, this may cause yellowing. Storing items in an old cotton pillowcase is best.

To keep your linen Flaxfield fresh, beautiful and long lasting, our general recommendations for laundering are:

Machine Wash

Wash light and dark coloured items separately using a mild, bleach free, liquid laundry detergent in warm water (40°C) on a gentle cycle with a final cold-water rinse. Overloading the washing machine will cause fabric fibres to break down because of excessive abrasion and agitation. Heavy zippers, catches and fasteners can damage the embroidery.

Hand Washing

For items requiring hand washing, use a gentle soap and rinse thoroughly in clean water to remove all soap residues. Avoid wringing delicate items. Line dry, or dry flat depending upon the item. Iron if desired according to label instructions.
Detergents and Additives to the wash
Please do not use chlorine bleach, bluing agents or optic whiteners as these may alter or remove colour and can weaken fibres. Pouring laundry detergent directly onto the wash can damage fabric and overtime builds up a residue that lessens softness. Ensure that detergent is added as the washer fills. To help keep linen soft, and depending upon the amount of soiling, one can try using only half the detergent recommended by the manufacturer.

Drying and Ironing

After washing remove bed linen from the machine promptly and shake to help reduce wrinkling. Our bed linens can be tumble-dried on a low temperature setting (a permanent press setting with a cool down cycle at the end will help reduce wrinkling), or line dried.
Line drying is the gentlest and safest way of drying your linen. Combined with the natural bleaching of the sun and the freshness of the air, line dried
linens always smell appealing and are left nearly wrinkle free. Items should be gently shaped then hung as straight, even and smooth as possible. Check all pegs are smooth on their holding surface to prevent any damage to the fabric.
Remove from dryer or line whilst slightly damp to minimize wrinkling. Shake, smooth out and fold. If desired, iron bed linen while still damp, first on the reverse side then on the front to bring out the sheen; Steam iron on a cotton setting, using a fine spray of water if needed. Embroidery should be ironed on the reverse side or between two cloths to help keep its three dimensional quality.

Storage

Cottons and linens should be stored in a cool, dry, well-aerated place if they need to be kept for long periods of time without use. Do not store in plastic bags or boxes as this will cause yellowing; instead wrap items in old cotton pillowcases. Heirloom linens should be wrapped individually in acid free tissue.
Some wooden chests may yellow or impart a discolouration to the fabric due to the oils contained in the wood.

Please DO NOT DRY-CLEAN Flaxfield cotton sheets.

Versai linens are best kept if you wash light and dark coloured items separately using a mild, bleach free, liquid laundry detergent in warm water (40°C) on a gentle cycle with a final cold-water rinse.

Overloading the washing machine will cause fabric fibres to break down because of excessive abrasion and agitation. Do not wash with any other items, as they fasteners and other attachments will damage the fabric.
